Our projects
Hygen is building a reliable network of local distribution hubs to meet hydrogen demand across the UK. From our operational base in Tyseley, Birmingham, and our HAR1 projects in Bradford, and HyBont, in Wales, to a portfolio of new and exciting HAR2 projects, Hygen is already delivering.

Tyseley Hydrogen Hub
Tyseley, in Birmingham, UK, is home to Hygen’s first operational hydrogen production site. Being one of the UK’s longest operational sites, it offers a proven model for future facilities and demonstrates Hygen’s expertise and commitment to making hydrogen cost-effective and scaleable.
Bradford Low Carbon Hydrogen
Hygen is working in partnership to deliver a state-of-the-art low carbon hydrogen production plant in East Bradford. The development will deliver one of the UK’s largest low carbon hydrogen production facilities using renewable energy.
HyBont
Hygen Energy has recently acquired the HyBont low carbon hydrogen project in Bridgend, Wales, from Marubeni Corporation. Once operational the facility will be able to supply low-carbon hydrogen for zero-emission transport such as buses, heavy goods vehicles and tube trailers, as well as existing and new industrial customers in the local area.
Upcoming HAR2 projects
Following a highly competitive process run by the UK Government, Hygen Energy has had four low carbon hydrogen production projects shortlisted for support for the Hydrogen Allocation Round 2 (HAR2). Spanning key UK regions and strategic sectors, each project will be developed in partnership with industry leaders to drive decarbonisation and build a resilient hydrogen economy.
Together, these projects form a strategic UK hydrogen backbone, extending from London to Central Scotland. This emerging network marks a significant step toward a national low carbon hydrogen economy, linking industrial demand centres and transport corridors with a reliable clean energy supply.
